Passed away: August 11, 2007

Klaassen – Judith Eileen Klaassen (nee Hungnes) of Swift Current, SK, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on August 11, 2007, at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Judith is survived by her husband, Ormond, and children, Roxy (Arverd) Dyck of McMahon, SK, Barbara (Marc) Corbeil of Legal, AB, and Todd (Barb) Klaassen of Swift Current, SK; seven grandchildren – Craig (Jenna) Dyck, Allison (Curtis) Martens, Marcus (Chantelle Arcand) Klaassen, Taylor Corbeil, Joshua Corbeil, Carly Klaassen, and Wade Klaassen. She is also survived by three sisters, Anna Potter, Eleanor (Davie) Wotherspoon, and Elaine (Jim) Sander; four sisters-in-law, Della (Bill) Roberts, Erla (Harry) Friesen, Fern Prefontaine, and Jewel (Rick) St. Laurent; and one brother-in-law, Doyle (Lucille) Klaassen; as well as many nieces and nephews. Judith was predeceased by her parents, Lars and Alice Hungnes; and by a brother, Arlie Hungnes. She was born on April 30, 1933, near Stewart Valley, SK, the second child of Lars and Alice Hungnes. She attended school at Atlas, Vendetta, and Stewart Valley, and later received her teaching certificate in Moose Jaw, SK. She taught at various country schools including Flats, Vendetta, Lens, Funk, Dendron and Secretan. Judith married Ormond Klaassen on December 30, 1958, and they lived on a small farm near Lac Pelletier until they moved to Swift Current in 1961, where they have resided for the past 46 years. Judith stayed home to raise her three children and returned to the workforce later on where she held various housekeeping positions. She volunteered teaching Sunday School, delivering Meals on Wheels, and helping with other church activities. Judith was also actively involved in Al-Anon for 30 years. Judith enjoyed reading, tending her flowers, painting, and baking – but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, going for coffee with Ormond, lunching with her sisters, and playing games with her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knew Judith well, knew she was the most kind-hearted, loving, honest, and well-meaning person you could ever meet. We will never forget the love, laughter, and home cooked meals and goodies that she was always so willing to provide. The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Cliff Janzen officiating. The pianist for the service was Jenna Dyck. “My Jesus I Love Thee” and “Amazing Grace” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Bill Roberts.
