Radiuk - Mr. John Radiuk, age 80, of Swift Current, SK and formerly of the Kelstern district, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK, with his family by his side. John is survived by his loving wife, Martha, of 37 years; his daughter, Carolynn (Randy) Daniel of Swift Current, SK, her children, Jeff (Jeanette) Haubrich - Kenzie, Hayden and Taryn of Mossomin, SK and Rachelle (Matt) Nicholson - Justyn, Michael, Mickalie of Swift Current, SK; his son, Dale (Bette) Zacharias of Swift Current, SK, their children, Sheri (Darrin) Wotypka - Cole and Ava of Swift Current, SK and Cory (Brandi) Zacharias of Swift Current, SK; his sisters, Olga (Albert) Hostin of Regina, SK and Ann Spee of Vancouver, BC; his brothers, Peter (Roxine) Radiuk of Vancouver, BC and Bill (Carolyn) Radiuk of Moose Jaw, SK; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter & Annie Radiuk; a sister, Mary Boyko; a brother, Steve Radiuk; a brother-in-law, Michael Spee; and a nephew, Mark Spee. John was born on the family farm at Kelstern, SK on December 23, 1926. He attended school at Kelstern and then pursued a successful farming career. He married Martha Zacharias on February 28, 1970 in Swift Current, SK. John & Martha farmed until 2004. Beginning in 1985, they enjoyed summers on the farm and winters in their new home in Swift Current. John enjoyed going to auction sales at Neufeld’s Auction, walking to the Mall for coffee row, playing cards with friends, spending time with his family and tinkering: making something out of nothing. One of his favorite sayings was, “Take care, because we care”. The Prayer Service was held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Swift Current, SK. The Funeral Mass was held on Friday, May 11th, 2007 at 11a.m from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Swift Current, SK with Father Sathiadas Antony as Celebrant. The ushers in the church were Harold Ebel and Melvin Knelsen. Honorary pallbearers were “All of John’s friends”. The private family Interment was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following grandsons serving as pallbearers, Cory Zacharias, Jeff Haubrich, Matt Nicholson, Darrin Wotypka, Justyn Nicholson and Kenzie Haubrich.
