It is with mixed feelings of joy and deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Krahn on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. John was born on March 18, 1913 to Johann and Susanna Krahn of the Wymark area. John is survived by his wife, Anna of 60 years; and his children, Dennis (Marilyn) Krahn, Eleanor (Neil) Peters, Doug (Kate) Krahn; his grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Staley, Michael Krahn and mother, Linda Krahn, Jolene (Mike) Giesbrecht, Jocelyn (Jay) Lamotte and Alyssa Krahn; and his great-grandchildren, Jesse, Levi, Chance, Kole and Tai. He is also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother, Susie Driedger, Bernard Krahn, Helen (Peter) Wieler and Gertrude Krahn. John was predeceased by his grandson, Jeffrey Peters; 6 brothers, Peter, Jake, George, Nick, Isaac and Cornie; and 3 sisters, Helen, Mary and Tena. John worked at farming most of his life and he enjoyed it. He practiced ‘any job worth doing was worth doing well’. John was an active member in the Blumenhof Gospel Church until he retired to Swift Current in 1996. John liked having friends over for coffee and playing games. He loved Mom and his family dearly and often told them "I love you" with a firm hug. He proved this by doing anything he could for them. Dad will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 2:00 pm from the Community Baptist Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Joell Haugen and Pastor Martin Harder officiating. The pianist for the service was Loreen Wiebe with special music brought by Martin & Anne Harder. Scripture was read from 2 Cor. 1:1-10 and Rev. 22:1-6. “Under His Wings” and “Blessed Assurance” were sung by the congregation. The eulogy was brought by Doug Krahn with various family sharing tributes. The ushers in the church were Jake Gerlach and Cornie Martens. The Interment was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Gordon Martens, Dale Krahn, Les Driedger, Arnold Elias, Terry Froese and Cal Volk. In memory of John Krahn, donations made to Teen Challenge, PO Box 21111, Saskatoon, SK, S7H 5N9 would be appreciated by the family.
