 |
John “Jack” Archibald Smith passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Prairie Health Care Centre, Cabri, SK at 86 years of age. Jack was born on February 1, 1921 at Abbey, SK to Ross & Gertrude Smith. He married Anne Bonogofski on February 10, 1961 at Great Falls, Montana, USA. He was a farmer and a custom grain hauler. He loved camping, traveling with family and friends, holidays, and the Smith Family reunions were especially a highlight. He was also a very successful farmer. Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by all. Jack leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Anne, of 46 years; his daughter, Sylvia (Randy) Heard; his grandchildren, Marsha Heard, Crystal Heard and Rachel Heard; his sister, Marlene (Jim) Davis; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ross & Gertrude Smith; his brothers, Tom Smith, Donald Smith, James Smith, Norman Smith; and by a sister, Ann. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, June 25, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. from the Abbey Community Hall, Abbey, SK with Rev. Catherine Christie officiating. The organist for the service was Sandra Watson accompanied by Fran Murch on the piano. “Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus” and “Work for the Night Is Coming” were sung by the congregation. The ushers were Ralph Stock and Dale Peterson. The Honor Guard was provided by the Legion as well as the Last Post. Anne Smith, Randy Heard, Sylvia Heard, Marsha Heard, Crystal Heard and Rachel Heard served as pallbearers. Cremation followed the service with the Interment of cremains taking place at a later date at the Abbey Community Cemetery, Abbey, SK. In memory of Jack Smith, donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK. |
