Name: Marcia Knelsen

Passed away: August 27, 2007
Marcia Patricia Dawn Knelsen (Paton), was born on March 25th, 1949 to Ronald & Mable Paton of Hazenmore, SK. Marcia passed away at the age of 58, at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, with family at her side. Marcia was predeceased by her father, Ronald Paton; her mother, Mable Paton; her father-in-law, Dick Knelsen; a special nephew, Landon Loughren; and by numerous aunts and uncles. Marcia is survived by her husband, Aldin; her mother-in-law and special friend, Bertha Knelsen; a sister, Gwen (Les) Loughren and their family. Marcia took her education in Hazenmore and in 1967, went on to take her Beauty School in Medicine Hat, AB. She practiced hairdressing and opened shops in B.C, Swift Current, Kincaid, Mankota and finally in Hodgeville. It was here that she met the love of her life Aldin, and they were married in November, 1977. They enjoyed the farm life until 1982, when they decided to move to Swift Current. Together they enjoyed camping, playing cards, many huge feasts with family and friends, lots of special Christmas's and numerous motor home trips. Their home was always open and she enjoyed to cook for whoever came along. Marcia operated a licensed group home from 1993 to 2003, where she truly felt a purpose and was able to spread her love and support to those she cared for. Marcia had one sister, Gwen, whom she was very close with. Marcia was a mother to many, but especially her sisters children, Larry, Deanna, and Melinda. She stood beside many and was always there for whoever needed a shoulder. Marcia had a strength of speaking the truth and putting people into perspective. We will always remember Marcia and carry a piece of her in our hearts forever. Special thanks goes to Dr. Khonje and to RN's, Rachael, Ange, and Heather, who provided special care to us all at the Cypress Regional Hospital (ICU). At her request, there will be no service. As Marcia always preached ~ live each day to the fullest and take time to visit family and friends every day. A Private Family Time of Remembrance was held at the Swift Current Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 30, 2007. In memory of Marcia Knelsen, donations made to the Osteoporosis Society would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
