Name: Jacob Schellenberg

Passed away: January 16, 2008

Jacob “Jake” Schellenberg was born on March 3, 1922 to Jacob and Katherine Schellenberg of Burwalde, Russia. His family came to Canada in 1926 and eventually settled in the Cabri area. After completing grade 9, he worked for one year before attending Herbert Bible School for 4 years. It was at Bible school where he met Susie Nickel of Beechy, Sask. They married in August,1945, attended Canadian Bible College for one year, and eventually settled in Beechy, Sask. Here he worked for various farmers for a few years before acquiring a permanent job at Pete Links Garage. His proven bookkeeping skills led him into the credit union system. He worked at Beechy Credit Union and completed his career as manager of Kyle Credit Union-retiring in 1985. It was while he was at Kyle, Jake received his grade 12 certificate. They moved to Swift Current in 1985. Jake accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 15 and was baptized at the age of 20 years. He loved to read his Bible and share what God was doing in his life. His passion was expounding the scriptures, whether it be by teaching Sunday School or preaching from the pulpit. He served the Gideon organization for 30 years. Jake loved life. He enjoyed boating, camping and traveling, but his greatest delight was spending time with his family. He loved doing puzzles and always had a good clean joke to share with his friends. On January 16, 2008 Jake went to be with the Lord at the age of 85 years. We rejoice that he is home in heaven.
Jake leaves to mourn his loving wife of 62 years, Susie, and four children:
