Name: Austin Tide

Austin Cecil Tide was born July 22, 1940 to Alfred & Marie (Adolph) Tide at Killaly, SK. He was a musician who played both bass guitar and drums. Austin played by ear and could sing and play all songs he heard on the radio. His band was called the “Polka Dots”. Austin then decided mechanics as his calling in life. He owned an Auto Body shop and then the Gulf Gas Station in Melville, SK. Austin was first married to Donalda Bernhardt and on June 24, 1967 he married Lorraine Shewchuck. He moved to Herbert in 1977, having his family join him in 1978. Austin decided to make Herbert his final move and settled here for over thirty years until his accident and unexpected death.  Austin’s Service was the business that everyone will best remember him for. Austin loved to organize a large fishing trip with family and friends every June at Lac LaPlonge, SK. He loved hunting, whether guiding American hunters or hunting for his own pleasure. There were many friendships built through this, he had regular hunters coming back to see him every year. Austin was loved by all those he met, he never let anyone suffer. Anyone who needed a helping hand, he was there right away.  Austin was on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. He could not say no! Just as in life he was a giving man, in death he will continue this gift by being an organ donor. Austin also had a great love for animals. His current animal companions, Sparky and Baron, will miss him terribly. Austin leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Lorraine Shewchuk; his five children, Alfred (Twyla) Tide, Rhonda Tide, Dean Tide, Carla (Ian) LaFontaine, Crystal (Faron) Tide; his grandchildren, Derek Tide, Devin Tide, Brendan and Nolan Tide, Natalie Tide-Mostochuk, Zachary LaFontainte, and Alexander Casselman; a sister, Doris (Frank) Zimmer; a brother-in-law, John Holitzki; and many nieces and nephews.  Austin will join his father, Alfred Tide; his mother, Marie (Adolph) Tide; a brother, William Tide; a sister, Ionne (Tide) Holitski; his best friend, Jerry Buhr; and friend, Granville Schindle.
