Name: Esther Andres

Passed away: March 29, 2008

ANDRES, Esther Mary, age 78, of Herbert SK, passed away March 29th, 2008, at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, after a battle with cancer.

Esther was born on Sept 3rd, 1929 at a farm in the Neidpath District. She was the oldest child of Abram and Agatha (Tilitzky) Andres. Esther is survived by her seven children: Larry (Gloria) Gerl, Diana Kind, Valerie (Ed) McCracken, Judy (Gary) Isaman, Dale (Rhonda) Gerl, Sandra Gamerschlag (George Hoffman) and Carol Gerl (Vince Rollick); her 16 grandchildren; and by her 19 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Sarah (Pete) Klassen, Elsie Klassen, Evelyn (John) Petkau, Harry (Verna) Andres, Corney (Betty) Andres, Shirley (Dale) Smith and Janet (Chuck) Lawson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; one son-in-law, Dan Gamerschlag; one grandchild in infancy; and by a brother-in-law, Jake Klassen. Family and friends were the centre of her life and were very important to her. Her favourite times were when she could prepare a meal for them - she was a wonderful cook and no one ever went away for her table hungry. She also had a green thumb and loved to garden. She spent many hours working in her yard, and her vegetable and flower gardens showed the results of her efforts. Esther lived her entire life in the Herbert area and was very involved in her Church and in her community. A Private Family Interment service was held at Memory Gardens in Swift Current. Funeral Services were held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. from the Living Faith Fellowship Church, Herbert, SK. With Pastor Donovan Epp officiating. Donations made in Esther’s memory, to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency Lodge Services, Regina, SK or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Swift Current Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
