Clarence Hector Elmer Wales passed away peacefully at the Melfort Union Hospital, on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 19 days. Clarence was born on January 15, 1915, at Therien, AB. He was the oldest of nine children born to Harold & Mary Wales. As a young child he lived in the Kelvington District. He took his elementary education at a rural school in the Farmingdale area. Later, the family moved into a log cabin in the Kindlock District. Clarence left home in the early 30’s, to seek employment and ended up in the Lac Vert community. He worked on various farming jobs and related many a story of his time spent on the Davis farm. On June 6, 1940, Clarence married Muriel Wales of Lac Vert, SK. They resided in the Lewis Lake community until the late 1980’s when they purchased a home in Naicam, SK. Clarence remained in this home until his wife’s passing in May 2008. He then moved to Nirvana Assisted Living in Melfort, SK where he resided until August 31st, when he was hospitalized. Clarence farmed in the Lac Vert District. He continued to work for neighboring farmers, drove school bus and was employed by Cropper Motors. After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and camping, some traveling, rodeos and woodworking. Some of his projects were making wishing wells and Purple Martin houses. Even today, family and friends get to enjoy the results of his woodworking projects. His pride and joy were the wooden wagons he made. Everyone in Nirvana had to come and see the horse and wagons on display. The highlight of his traveling was a trip to California and Arizona, where he had the opportunity to visit his aging Aunts. He also often spoke of the scenic trip he took on the Palms to Pines Highway in California.
