Name: Jarrett Skatrud

Passed away: October 18, 2008

Jarrett “Jay” Drew Skatrud was born on May 27 1975 in Regina, SK. He grew up with his parents George & Judy, his sister, Leslie, and his brother, Kent, in Swift Current. Jarrett was a playful child, with a twinkle in his eye that often led to a practical joke and a smile. He participated in minor sports, especially enjoying hockey. He attended AshleyParkSchool, O.M. Irwin and the SwiftCurrentComprehensiveHigh School. In his adult life, he worked as a Field Representative, surveying well and pipeline sites in the oil and gas industry. In his spare time he loved golf, watching sports, visiting friends, and planning pranks to play, especially on his nephew and niece, whom he adored. Jay had a strong bond with his entire family, but was especially close with his brother Kent. Jarrett was united in marriage to Melissa on January 14, 2006 in Medicine Hat, where they continued to live. Jarrett was very proud of the relationship he had with Melissa’s entire family, and enjoyed spending time with them. Jay always had time for his friends and family, and could make a connection with people of all ages. He would go out of his way to help a friend, and could always find a way to make everyone smile. Jarrett is survived by his wife Melissa; his parents, George & Judy Skatrud; his sister, Leslie (Dean) Ramsell; and his brother, Kent Skatrud. He also leaves to mourn his nephew, Joey, and niece, Mackenzie Ramsell; his grandmother, Mabel Skatrud; his grandfather, Jim Pinning; aunts, Elsie (Ed) Bowditch, Jill Pinning, Joan (Mark) Hantke; and cousins, Jody Bowditch, Jamie Bowditch and David Hantke. Jarrett is also mourned by his parents-in-law, Wayne & Lori Wiebe; his brother-in-law, Mitch; and their extended families. Jarrett was predeceased by his grandfather, Einar Skatrud; his grandmother, Ella Pinning; and close friends, Jeremy and Chris. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 2:00 pm from the East Side Church of God, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating.
