Mr. Herman Peters, age 86, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2008, at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Herman was born on June 9, 1922, at the Peters’ homestead in Wymark , SK. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann, November 17, 1947; his mother, Agnes; step- mother, Mary; his father, Bernard; sisters, Margaret, Agnes; brothers, John, Benny; a grandson, Jeff; his father & mother-in-law, Jacob & Katherine Wall; father & mother-in-law, Klaas & Helena Wiebe; in-laws: Jake Wall, Kay Gibbs, Art Gibbs, Nevzen Wall, Abe Wall, Joyce Wall, Henry Wall, John Wall, Elmer Klassen, Henry Dyck, George Andres, Pete Wiebe, Susie Wiebe, Jake Wiebe, Corny Wiebe, Klaas Wiebe, John Wiebe, Pete Friesen, Tina Friesen, Ben Wiebe and Mary Wiebe. Herman will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Mary; his children, Larry (Adeline), Neil (Eleanor), Edna, Wayne, and Edgar (Junene); his grandchildren, Jason (Teri), Sherri (Brett), Jolene (Mike), Jocelyn (Jay), Shannon ( Travis ), Jennifer, Eugene, Mark, Kris; his seven great-grandchildren; his siblings: Jake (Helen) Peters, Helen Andres, Pete (Leona) Peters, Liz (John) Klassen, Con Wall, Anne Klassen, Nick (Mary) Wall, Sally Wall, Ben ( Susie) Wiebe, Isaac (Sally) Wiebe, Helen Craddock, Tina Wiebe, Anne Wiebe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Herman had many passions in life, farming always being prominent. He began farming at the young age of 14 and continued on for the next 60 years. Family was very important to Herman, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was never known as man of many words but the smirk on his face always said it all. Christmas gatherings were always great days for him. The simple pleasures of life were the things that Herman enjoyed, picnics at Lac Pelletier , enjoying the serenity of wildlife, air shows were always a favourite of his, and most definitely the famous“John Deere Day”. Traveling was a hobby that Herman & Mary enjoyed. Together they took various trips to Mexico, Winnipeg , and also several trips to Kelowna to visit his favourite daughter. Herman was very committed to the Lord and his church. This began at the Sommerfeld Church where he dedicated his life by being baptised on the confession of his faith. He then became a member of the EMC at Chortitz where his relationship with the Lord continued to grow for the rest of his life. “I BELIEVED” The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 11:00 am from the Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Randall Krahn officiating. “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “Just As I Am” were sung by the congregation under the direction of John Regier. The ushers in the church were Steve Dyck, Melvin Friesen, Dale Peters and Dwayne Wall. The honorary pallbearers were “The Peters, Wall & Wiebe Families”. The Interment Service was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Eugene Friesen, Kris Peters, Mark Peters, Mike Giesbrecht, Brett Glaeser and Jason Peters. In Memory of Herman Peters, donations made to the Prairie Pioneers Lodge Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
