Klaus Frey was born in Helsinki, Finland on January 6,1925 and went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2008. Klaus made a commitment to Jesus Christ in 1973 and found great comfort and peace in his Christian walk. Klaus volunteered to serve in the Finnish Military in 1940 with the 1st Field Artillery Regiment where he held the rank of Lieutenant. In the early 1970’s, he immigrated to Canada where he worked at various jobs until settling in Swift Current as a radiator technician. Klaus loved music and played in the Swift Current Adult Band. He also had a heart for the suffering church around the world. One of his great memories was going to Cuba to distribute Bibles and to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His message to his friends – trust in God always. Only Jesus can bring you victory and freedom from all sin. Klaus is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Gerry) whom he married in 1989; his three children in Finland: a son, Kim, and two daughters, Katri and Annika; and a sister, Kaija Louhinuori. He is also survived by Gerry’s sons, Shane Eubank and Ryan Eubank and their families; by his sister-in-law, Judy Mauer, whom he considered a great caregiver; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Harri. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 11:00 am from the Alpine Church of God, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Alex Allan officiating. The pianist for the service was Sharon Penny. “Amazing Grace” and “It Is Well With My Soul” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Jack Peters. Scripture was read by Nicole Eubank. The life history was presented by Rev. Bob Reesor with a tribute shared by Judy Mauer. A poem entitled, “Imagine” was read by Taylor Eubank. Special music was brought by Henry Thiessen singing, “Die Uhr” (“The Hour”) and the Alpine Trio singing, “Mary Called Him Jesus, But I Call Him Lord”. The Interment Service was held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 2:00 pm from the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Veteran’s Section, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Shane Eubank, Ryan Eubank, Jody Yuen, Alan Yuen, George Seifert and Bob Dyke. In memory of Klaus Frey, donations made to the Open Doors Ministries (Serving persecuted Christians worldwide) 30-5155 Spectrum Way, Mississauga, ON, L4W 5A1 or to the Cohn’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
