Name: Frank Widdifield

Passed away: March 4, 2009

Franklin (Frank) Forrest Widdifield passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the Prairie Health Care Centre, Cabri, SK, at the age of 87 years. Frank was born on October 5, 1921 on the farm at Portreeve, SK to Forrest & Hilda Widdifield. He completed his grade 12 and from the young age of 18 years he was self-employed as a rancher/farmer and “cowboy”. He married Mary Ellen “Marie” Herriot on May 10, 1951 at the United Church, Swift Current, SK. Frank loved being a cowboy and a rancher. He also greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing with Marie and Charlie. Frank was passionate about the local Cabri sports teams: the Cabri Pioneers Fastball team and especially close to his heart were the Cabri Bulldogs Hockey team. Some of his other interests included painting and art, woodworking, donating to Charitable causes, and a never ending desire to read and to self educate. Upon retirement in 1970, at the age of 63 years, Frank took his EMT course and volunteered for the local Cabri Ambulance for 15 years. Frank had many fond memories of a good life on the ranch with his wife, Marie, and their daughter, Mary Anne. He also had many good dogs and horses and just loved his time on the old ranch. Frank is survived by his son-in-law, Don MacIntyre; his grandson, James, and his wife, Liz, MacIntyre; a sister-in-law, Marion Widdifield; and also nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Widdifield; his daughter, Mary Anne MacIntyre; his brother, Bill; and his sisters, Frances and Doris. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 2:00 pm from the Cabri Community Hall, Cabri, SK with Rev. Maxine Pirie officiating. The organist for the service was Lexi Culham with a musical selection brought by the Hagel Family. “All Things Bright and Beautiful”, “For the Beauty of the Earth” and “Give To Us Laughter” were sung by the congregation. The ushers were Jordan Telke, Tim Cox and Clinton Petersen. The Honorary pallbearers were the Members of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star & Shriner’s. The Interment was held at the Cabri Cemetery, Cabri, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Jim Telke, Luke Hadden, Scott Shaw, Doug Kennedy, Darren Levorson, Jim Carleton and Ryan Hamilton. For those wishing, donations made to the Prairie Health Centre Auxiliary, the Cabri Bulldogs Hockey Association or to the Wa-Wa Shrine Transportation Fund would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
