Name: Amelia "Millie" Spate

Passed away:  January 7, 2010

SPATE, Amelia (Millie) nee: Zimmermann, February 7, 1916 – January 7, 2010
It is with profound sadness that the family of Amelia Spate announce her passing on January 7, 2010, at that age of 93 years and 11 months, with family by her side. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Carrie (Jim), Donald (Elayne), Dale (Nettie), Larry, (Joan), Lorne (Dee), Bob (Carol) and son-in-law Art (Carol), 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) and daughters Gloria and Verna and son-in-law Lorne and by her parents Henry and Katherine Zimmermann, siblings: Henry, Mary, Fred, Katie, Molly, David and Conrad.
She was the last of her siblings generation. Mom was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on February 7th 1916 and was married to William (Bill) Spate on July 2nd 1935. Upon the passing of her husband Bill in August 1962, her life's work became dedicated to raising, caring for- and loving her family and had a special place in her heart for her sons'- in-law' (Jim, Lorne and Art) and considered them her 6th, 7th and 8th boys. It was often noticed when we visited her at the nursing home she almost always asked how Jim and Art were before she inquired about anyone else. The family would like to thank all who visited Mom while in the nursing home and a special thank you to Dr. Kassett and the staff at the Herbert Long Term Care Centre for the wonderful care given her while she resided there. There are truly angels among us. A very special thank you to Art and Geoff and their families for always being there for Mom and the rest her family. We know everything you did was out of love - not duty, and we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge you. We will miss -but always remember her smiles, laugh, kisses and hugs along with her unique sense of humor which she never lost. Forever loved, Your Family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Herbert Nursing Home or the Heart and Stroke Fund. Cremation has taken place . Following internment at Flowing Well Cemetery, a celebration of Mom's life will take place at the Morse Community Hall, Morse Saskatchewan at a date to be determined.
