Joyce Katherine (Sorensen) Smith passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the Cypress Region Hospital. Joyce, the second oldest of five children, was born on June 13, 1917 in Swift current, Saskatchewan. Joyce grew up on the family homestead which was situated on the north side of the South Saskatchewan River, overlooking the river valley in the Saskatchewan Landing Area. Joyce attended the North Landing Country school where she completed her grade eight. Upon leaving school Joyce worked for several families, then moved to Swift Current where she was employed at the Swift Current Produce Company. Wile living in swift current she attended the RAF dances at the mess.
