Welcome to the memorial page for

Anne Neufeld

May 10, 2015

Anne (Goertz) Neufeld passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on May 10th 2015 at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon.

Anne was born in Wembley, Alberta, on June 5, 1928 to Henry and Agnes (Janzen) Goertz. She became a Christian at her mother's knee when she was 9 years old.  In 1943 she moved to Delta, British Columbia with her family. At the age of 16 she was baptized and joined the Kennedy Heights MB Church in Delta, B.C. She worked in a variety of jobs in support of her parents. In 1952 she enrolled in the Briercrest Bible Institute (BBI), Caronport, Saskatchewan, and graduated in 1955. Upon graduation, she was invited to join the staff at BBI, where she worked for 36 years until her retirement in 1991, except for a 2 year leave of absence to look after her ailing mother in B.C. She filled several important roles, such as chief cook, dining room matron, and as a clerk in the BBI post office. Her greatest fulfillment and joy was her involvement in the lives of the thousands of students who attended the school during those years.

In 1991 Anne's life changed dramatically when she married John Neufeld of Herbert, Saskatchewan. She had been a life-long friend of John and his late wife Kay and their children, and a frequent visitor to their home on the farm. Anne instantly became “Mom” for six children and their spouses, and “Grandma” to 17 grandchildren.

For a number of years, Anne, with John, took great pleasure in volunteer work with MDS, MCC, and the Gleaners in the United States and Canada.

In 2000 she and John sold their farm in Herbert and moved to a condo in Swift Current, and in 2013 they moved to a retirement community in Saskatoon. In April of this year, Anne was diagnosed with cancer and passed away several weeks later. She will be remembered for her love to her family, being a gracious host to the many guests John and Anne entertained, her beautiful contralto singing voice, her good natured sense of humour and her unwavering faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.

Anne leaves to mourn her husband John, and children, Phil (Pat) Neufeld, Richard (Eva) Neufeld, Robert (Lois Coleman) Neufeld, Kathy (John) Priebe, Susan (Gordon) Kehler, and Carolyn (Scot) Peterson, along with 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren of which 2 grandchildren are deceased.

In the Goertz family she leaves to mourn her siblings; Rose (Neufeld) Goertz, Tina (Goertz) Paterson, John and Janice (Baerg) Goertz and many nieces and nephews. Anne is predeceased by her father and mother Henry K and Agnes Goertz, by siblings Jake and Tina (Redecopp) Goertz, Henry and Lenora (Erickson) Goertz, Nick and Hildegard (Enns) Goertz, Helen Goertz, Albert Goertz, and brother in law Gerald Paterson.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Anne Neufeld of Saskatoon and formerly of Swift Current will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm from Bridgeway Community Church in Swift Current with Pastor Bob Cappelle officiating.

The Interment Service for Mrs. Anne Neufeld will precede the funeral Service and take place at the Herbert Cemetery.
