Welcome to the memorial page for

Betty Braun

November 30, 2016

father while the rest of the family immigrated to Canada. After her recovery, she and her father joined their family in Rush Lake, SK. Betty accepted Christ into her life on December 5, 1938 and was baptized July 20, 1939 at the age of 21. Reading and studying the Bible, along with prayers, were a very important part of her life. Accumulating earthly possessions were definitely not one of Betty’s priorities. The needs of others always came before her own. She was very active in her church, helping where ever and whenever there was a need. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She obtained her Grade 8 in piano and her Grade 12 through correspondence. Her vocabulary was outstanding. Betty married Bernard ‘Ben’ Braun on October 8, 1943. Surprising for that time period, they eloped. Ben & Betty worked as a pair, complimenting each other in all their endeavors. They were both very involved in the building of the Winnie Street Church, as well as the present Bridgeway Community Church. Most of her life was spent in Saskatchewan, farming as well as helping with carpentry finishing work. They were very hospitable, entertaining the church families, neighbours, family, and friends. She was very fond of her nieces, nephews, and their families. After retiring, they moved to British Columbia where they found much to keep themselves busy. While in Clearbrook, Betty volunteered at the Community Center for a year and a half serving meals. They later moved back to Swift Current and immersed themselves into MCC work. Ben & Betty celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on July 24, 1993. They moved from their home in Swift Current to the Herbert Heritage Manor in 2006, and then to the Integrated Health Facility in 2009. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Ben Braun; her parents, Diedrick & Gertrude Rempel; all of her siblings; and by many nieces and nephews. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Betty Braun, age 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Herbert Integrated Health Facility, Herbert SK. We are sure the Lord greeted her with the words “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” The Funeral Service was held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from the Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Bob Cappelle officiating. The pianist for the service was Leanne McConnell. “The Love of God” and “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” were sung by the congregation under the direction of John Redekop. The tribute and eulogy was brought by Jack & Laura Epp. “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be” and “’Till the Storm Passes By” was sung by the Braun Trio for special music. The ushers in the church were Kevin Epp and Willy Braun. The Interment Service was held after the luncheon at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Pete Froese, Sheila Hildebrandt, Luella Rempel, Dallas Braun, Walt Bragg, and Fred Braun.
