Welcome to the memorial page for

Boyd William Stewart

October 26, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family of Boyd William Stewart, age 61, of Moose Jaw and formerly of Stewart Valley, announce his passing on October 26, 2015 at Moose Jaw Extendicare from respiratory issues, with loving family and nurses by his side. Boyd William Stewart was born on November 20, 1953, the youngest son of Bob & Ethel Stewart of Stewart Valley, SK. He lived most of his life in Moose Jaw. As a young boy, Boyd was a resident at Valley View Facility, then lived in a group home and soon after lived with Jerry & Dawn Hicks. As an adult, Boyd worked at Diversified Services in Moose Jaw, where Jerry is the Executive Director. Boyd's arthritis and dementia were too powerful for him to remain at home so in July 2014, he moved to Moose Jaw Extendicare. He had lived with Jerry & Dawn for 34 years. Boyd's family is forever grateful for the unconditional love and care Jerry & Dawn, their family, and friends gave him. Extendicare staff was also so compassionate and gave Boyd wonderful care for his last 15 months. Boyd is survived by his siblings: his sister, Jean (Don) Wenzel of Stony Plain, AB and their children: Mary Jane, Rob (Pam) and Cori (Rick); his brother, Bruce (Darlene) Stewart of Swift Current, SK and their children: Patty (Gilles) and Penny (Warren); his brother, Glenn (Linda) Stewart of Swift Current, SK and their children: Shayne (Kristie) and Kristi (Marc); his sister, Brenda (Don) Kerslake of Alamdea, SK and their children: Tim (Jacque), Stewart (Lisa)and Kara (Mark); and by many gr nieces, gr nephews, and cousins. Boyd is also survived by his second family in Moose Jaw, SK: Jerry & Dawn Hicks and their children: Kali (Chris) and Keegan (Kristen); and by a lifelong friend, Greg Duchak. Boyd loved babies, fishing, vacuuming and sweeping, Coke, food in general, John Wayne and Star Trek movies, music and dancing, satisfaction of walking around the farm as well as back and forth to work, riding the bus between Swift Current and Moose Jaw to visit family, and he loved to bug people and would giggle at their response. Boyd loved life and will be sadly missed. The Funeral Service was held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm from St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Jonathan Hoskin officiating. The organist for the service was Patty Robertshaw. The eulogy/tribute was read by Shayne Stewart and Kristi Schwartz. Bible readings were read by Patty Masse, Pam Wenzel, and Stewart Kerslake. Donations may be made to Diversified Services in Moose Jaw and would be appreciated by the family. The Interment Service was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current.

For those wishing, donations to Diversified Services For the Handicapped, 11 Wood Lilly Dr., Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
