Brenda (Prang) Hilmoe

Brenda (Prang) Hilmoe, age 53, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at The Meadows, Swift Current, SK. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2014, and had surgery and many radiation and chemo treatments, which she endured with few complaints. Brenda Arlene Hilmoe was born on February 21, 1964 at Swift Current, SK to Harry & Mary Prang. Brenda was baptized as an infant, and attended Sunday School and Church in Herbert. She liked singing and would go along with her dad to Swift Current, and they would sing the whole way. She attended school in Herbert and at Beatty Collegiate in Swift Current. Brenda went on to take a hair dressing course in Regina and worked in Swift Current as a hairdresser for several years. She later took a secretarial course and moved to Calgary, AB where she worked as a receptionist in a bank. Brenda moved back to Swift Current and worked with Home Care. She took a Special Care Aide course and worked in Nursing Homes in Cabri and Swift Current. Brenda also did scheduling for the Swift Current Health District, as long as her health permitted. Brenda grew up on the farm and enjoyed the outdoors, camping, gardening, and fishing. She also had several horses and participated in horse shows, barrel racing, and dressage. Brenda went on several trips to Hawaii and Disney Land with her parents. Brenda spent the last four months at The Meadows, where she resided until her passing. The family would like to thank The Meadows nursing staff for the excellent care she received! Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Travis Hilmoe and Nathan Hilmoe; her parents, Harry & Mary Prang; her brother, Steve Prang; her nieces and nephews; her aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.

The Funeral Service for Brenda (Prang) Hilmoe was held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm from St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herbert, SK with her uncle, Jacob Froese, officiating. “Amazing Grace” was sung by the congregation, with Hazel Froese serving as pianist. Special music was brought by Don Mathies. The eulogy was given by Margaret Brooks. The ushers in the church were Bob Mathies and Ken Mathies. The Private Family Interment Service was held prior to the Funeral Service from the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK with Marlene Friesen, Gail Klassen, Sharon Adrian, and Jamie Prang serving as Pallbearers.
