Donald Olfert

On Wednesday, September 20, 2017 Donald Olfert passed into eternal glory at The Meadows, Swift Current, SK. The Funeral Service was held at Swift Current Funeral Home at 1:30 pm on September 25, 2017. The Interment Service at the Schoenfeld Cemtery.  Donald David Olfert was born December 16, 1946 to Isaac F & Susan Olfert on the family farm in the Bigford area, near Rosenhof, SK. The roads were blocked with deep snow, so his father delivered him with help from a doctor by telephone. Most of his life was lived in Swift Current, he worked as a janitor and in restaurants. Don was admitted to the Care Centre on April 2, 2014. When a room became available, he went to the Prairie Pioneer Lodge. He was in the first group to move to The Meadows. Don was predeceased by his parents, Isaac F. & Susan Olfert. Don is survived by his sister, Marjorie (Peter) Wiebe; their children, Shannon (Kirk) Friesen and Steven (Shirley) Wiebe (Carson, Nicholas, and Danica); his brother, Ernest Olfert; his son, Dillon Olfert; and by his sister, Susan (Dave) Fehr; their children, Jackie (Greg) Reimche (Mackenson and Wilson) and Jason (Rhonda) Fehr (Grace and Jillian).

The Funeral Service for Donald Olfert was held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 1:30 pm from the Swift Current Funeral Home Chapel, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating. “Amazing Grace” and “In the Sweet By and By” were sung by the congregation under the leadership of Ron & Trudy Olfert. The eulogy was read by Steven Wiebe. The Interment Service was held from the Schoenfeld Cemetery, Schoenfeld, SK with Donald’s family serving as Pallbearers. In memory of Donald Olfert, donations made to The Meadows would be appreciated by the family.
