Welcome to the memorial page for

Edward Regier

June 6, 2016

Jacob Edward Regier was born on March 24, 1926, at Sec 30 – Tp 14 – Rge 13 – W of 3rd, Swift Current, SK, to David J. & Aganatha Regier. Ed grew up on the farm just 8 miles south of Swift Current, and farmed with his dad until he began working in Swift Current. He worked at several different businesses before starting a Texaco gas station and an Oliver machinery dealership in the late 1950’s. Ed later added New Holland farm machinery and recreational vehicles to the dealership. In 1979, he took on the Honda car line. Throughout that time, he continued farming his own section of land. Ed enjoyed farming as a “hobby”. Ed’s early education included graduating from Swift Current Bible Institute. He also had his private pilot’s license and loved to fly. Ed was engaged to Marion Peters on June 4, 1949, and they were married that same year on October 8th. She was the love of his life. Early in his life, Ed received Jesus Christ as his savior and this decision guided the rest of his life in every aspect. One of Ed’s greatest joys was music, and one of the most important things in his life was directing choirs of many sorts. He was deeply involved in church music glorifying God as part of choirs and quartets. He often talked about his trip to Churchill, MB with a quartet. One early passion involved Ed directing music for the “Chapel of Song” a local TV program started by the Alliance Church. He was instrumental in starting The Christian Business Men’s outreach ministry and particularly liked planning banquets for the grade 12 boys’ graduation. Another one of Ed’s passions was supporting Christian mission work and seeing the Gospel spread around the world. He also served on the board for Millar College of the Bible for many years. Ed’s love and concern for his family was a priority. He loved his children and grandchildren, and was always praying for them and wanting to spend time with them. The last couple of years saw Ed struggle with dementia. He was not his usual self, and at times he sensed this struggle. This led to Ed & Marion moving to the Riverview Estates. In January 2016, Ed moved to the Swift Current Care Centre where he received excellent care until his passing in the early morning of Monday, June 6, 2016, at the age of 90. For many months prior, Ed had expressed an intense desire to go “home”. He knew that his ultimate eternal home was with his Savior, Jesus Christ. Ed was predeceased by his parents; his three sisters, Edna, Esther, Leona; and by one brother, Calvin. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife for 66 years, Marion; his sons, Wayne (Lynn), Lionel (Jean), Steve (Bonnie), Loren (Colette); his grandchildren, Tricia Cormier (Wayne), Jason (Terra), Dean (Linnea), Jillian Thiessen (Derek), David (Lindsay), Duane (Jobi), Bretta Turner (Cody), Shawn (Melissa), Randy, Krista Boese (Kenny), Jonathan, Brendon, Reilly; his many great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ernest, John (Dorothy), Karan (Judith); his sisters-in-law, Edna Friesen, Leona Peters, Pearl Regier; a brother-in-law, Orville Peters (Carol); and by numerous nephews and nieces.

The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 2:00 pm from the Trailview Alliance Church, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Steve Regier and Pastor Mike Smart officiating. The pianist for the service was Wayne Regier. “Blessed Assurance”, “It Is Well with My Soul” and “Blessed be the Lord God Almighty” were sung by the congregation.
