Freda Kate Fraser passed away peacefully at the Swift Current Hospital on November 29, 2015, at the age of 97 years. She was born on July 15, 1918 in England to George and Kate Webb. They moved to their family farm at Pambrun in 1919 where she attended Pambrun School and graduated in 1937. In April 1938 she married Bill Fraser in the Knox United Church in Swift Current. Their son, Robert, was born in the Swift Current Hospital on January 14, 1942. Later that year they moved to Toronto, which was Bill’s family home. In 1948, they moved to Gridley, California where Freda worked as a Licenced Vocational Nurse for 25 years. She retired from nursing in 1975. In 1991, after her husband’s sudden death, she moved back to Pambrun, SK. After spending six years in Pambrun, she moved to Vanguard. In 2002, Freda moved to Swift Current and lived there until her passing. Freda was a Past Matron of the order of Eastern Star, a dual member of Sterling Chapter in Swift Current, Past President of the Gridley Woman’s Club, Past President of the Presbyterian Women of Gridley, and Past President of the Vanguard Senior Citizen Club. Freda spent many hours knitting, crocheting, reading, and watching the Blue Jays. Freda is survived by: her son, Robert, of Gridley, California; granddaughters, Brandy Fraser of Gridley, California, and Tiffany (Jason) Bobo; four great-grandchildren of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Dorothy Heinricks of Calgary, AB; and by many nieces and nephews. Freda is predeceased by: her loving husband, Bill; her parents, George & Kate Webb; sisters, Sylvia Christopher and Gladys Christopher; and by brothers-in-law, Earl Christopher, Jake Heinricks and Russell Christopher. At Freda’s request, no funeral will be held and a family interment will take place in Pambrun at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Pambrun Cemetery, Pambrun Community Hall, or the Grace United Church, Swift Current, SK.
