Gary McGough

It is with great sadness that the family of Gary McGough, age 66, announces his passing on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK. Gary Wayne McGough was born September 30, 1951 in Herbert, SK to Stanley & Susie McGough. He grew up in the Ernfold, SK area, where he attended elementary school, he completed high school in Morse, SK. Gary worked for local farmers and in the construction industry in the area.

He met Wanda Walker, the love of his life, and they were married in 2001. They lived in North Battleford, SK until his passing, married life brought much happiness to Gary. He always looked forward to spending time with family and friends — the last special occasion they celebrated together was his 65th birthday.  Gary enjoyed cooking, fishing, and playing cards. He especially loved being the family historian, and sharing his vast knowledge of the Ernfold and area history. Gary was a kind-hearted person who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Gary was predeceased by his father, Stanley McGough; his sister, Patsy McGough; his brother, Randy McGough; and by his niece, Krysta Racine. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Walker; his stepson, Silas Walker; his mother, Susie McGough; his sister, Marlene McGough; his brothers, Bruce (Wendy) McGough, Mark (Teresa) McGough, Greg McGough, and Sheldon McGough; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The Funeral Service for Gary McGough was held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Ernfold Community Hall, Ernfold, SK with Pastor Lincoln Vellacott officiating. “How Great Thou Art,” “What a Day That Will Be,” and “I’ll Fly Away” were sung by the congregation, with Marilyn Vellacott serving as pianist. The obituary was read by Bruce McGough, tributes were given by Gary’s siblings. The Interment Service was held from the Ernfold Cemetery, Ernfold, SK with Greg McGough, Sheldon McGough, Mark McGough, Bruce McGough, Al Walker, Gary Hildebrandt, Marlene McGough, and Silas Walker serving as Pallbearers. In memory of Gary McGough, donations made to the Ernfold Recreation Board (c/o Tammy Cornelson, Box 44, Ernfold, SK, S0H 1K0) would be appreciated by the family.
