Welcome to the memorial page for

Harry Heinrichs

July 10, 2016

Harry Heinrichs, age 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB.

Harry was born on May 26, 1939, at Chortitz, SK, the 7th child of Isaac & Sara Heinrichs. He grew up on the farm and attended Versailles School (grades 1-8). Harry was a sickly child from an early age and during his high school years, doctors found that he had cancer in his left lung. After a successful operation to remove his lung and much improved health, he finished high school. While in public school, a fellow student introduced Harry to the Gospel, to which he made a positive response. Harry spent 3 years at Steinbach Bible College in Manitoba. He enjoyed studying the Scriptures - especially the book of Esther and the story of Joseph. It meant a lot to him to be able to share these studies with his father-in-law. He took some teacher training, but found that teaching in public school was not for him. For a few years, he worked as an orderly at what was then called the General Hospital. Later, he took up carpentry and found his niche. Most of his work involved repairing and remodeling homes, always with an eye for perfection. Most recently, he worked in a furniture factory. Then, with his health failing, he retired from active work. In September of 1980, Harry married Hanna Waisman. Together, Harry and Hanna made their home in Winnipeg. This spring, construction was completed on their new house, which Harry oversaw.

Harry was predeceased by his parents and parents-in-law; his oldest sister, Helen; his brothers, John, Ike, Pete, Abe, Karl, Jim, and Henry (in infancy); his sister-in-law, Sarah; his brothers-in-law, Terry and John; his nephews, Trevor and Dennis; and by his nieces, Theodora and Sadie. He leaves to mourn his wife of 35 years, Hanna (and their cat, Cuddles); his brothers, Jake, Ed (Judy), and Ernie; his sisters, Sally (Wayne) and Jessie (Abe); his sisters-in-law, Frances, Laura, and Phyllis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Harry Heinrichs of Winnipeg, MB, took place on Friday, July 22 at 2:00 pm from the Wymark EMC Cemetery at Chortitz with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating.

Friends and relatives were invited to join the family for a luncheon at the Wymark Rink following the Interment Service.
