Herman Gerbrandt Obituary

Herman Gerbrandt, age 59, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Herbert, SK. Herman Lloyd Gerbrandt and his twin brother, Harold, were born March 10, 1958 in Herbert, SK to John & Mary Gerbrandt. One of twelve children, his childhood was spent on the family farm in Morse, SK until they moved to Herbert in his teens.

In 1977, Herman married Belinda, that May their daughter, Tara Lynn, was born. Their son, Christopher Curtis, was born June 28, 1979. They divorced in 1981, several years later, Sharon came into Herman’s life. They had three sons — Brett Dalton (May 4, 1996), Cody Griffin (September 10, 1997), and Kyle Taylor (July 4, 1998). Herman loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and had a love for music. He loved taking Chris gopher hunting — Tara wasn’t allowed to join because she cried too much when the gophers died. Many winter weekends were spent taking all the kids on skidoo rides.

He worked for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for seventeen years, then he decided to become a welder, using his skills at Doepkers in Moose Jaw and TrailTech in Gravelbourg. Herman spent a few years helping his mom and dad in their later years, until they moved to the Herbert Manor. In 2012, Herman suffered a heart attack that he struggled to recover from.

Herman was a son, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, John & Mary Gerbrandt; and by his brother, Gordon Gerbrandt. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, Tara Gerbrandt (her children, Dakota and Emma), Chris (his son, Trunay) (Tanya) Gerbrandt (their children, Katrina, Nick, and Tyler), and Brett, Cody, and Kyle Nickel; his siblings, Eve (Murray) Kraway, Andy Gerbrandt, Shirley Dyck, Judy (Dennis) Dyck, Ken (Val) Gerbrandt, Clarence (Terrill) Gerbrandt, Ron (Bonnie) Gerbrandt, Elmer (Sherry) Gerbrandt, Harold (Cheri) Gerbrandt, Davina (Kent) Schluff; and by his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
