Howard Elmer Ljunggren, age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday August 12, 2016 at the Palliser Regional Care Centre, Swift Current, SK. Howard was preceded by his parents, Hjalmar & Wilhemina Ljunggren; his younger sister, Doris; and by his brother, Gordon. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Eileen; his 6 children, Sylvia (Don) Bedwell, Dorothy (David) Low, Patricia (Gordon) White, Barry (Cheryl) Ljunggren, Wendy (James) Pritchard, Rod (Beryl) Ljunggren; his 17 grandchildren; his 32 great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Howard was born on June 2, 1919 in Swift Current, SK to Hjalmar & Wilhemina Ljunggren. At an early age Howard assumed the responsibilities of his parents farm after his father passed away leaving his mother, brother, and sister. On October 20, 1943 Howard married the love of his life, Eileen Agar. He lovingly built his family home in Swift Current for his wife and children.

Howard was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway in Swift Current until his retirement in 1979. He was a faithful member of the Full Gospel Church where he was actively involved in various positions of the church. Howard lived a healthy active life and enjoyed swimming, walking, and travelling throughout the years. After retirement, he continued his woodcraft hobby and built many wood projects for his home and family members. A kind loving husband and father, Howard enjoyed his family immensely. The love for his family will be cherished in the lives of Eileen and their family. Sincere gratitude is given to the Palliser Regional Care Centre for the care this past year of Howard's life.

The Memorial Service for Mr. Howard Ljunggren of Swift Current was held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 3:00 at the Full Gospel Church with Pastor Wendell Quincey officiating
