Irene Parr

Irene Joyce Par (nee Markkula), age 75, of Swift Current SK, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current SK. Irene is survived by her husband Richard Parr; her daughters, Lynn Deptuck (Wes), Sheila Griffith; her son, Leon Griffith (Jenell); her step-children, Leonard Parr, David Parr (Allison), Tammy Leonard (Tom), Jo-Ann Parr; 15 grand-children; 2 great-grandchildren; and by her brother, Wilf Markkula (Gloria). She was predeceased by her parents, Victor & Elsie Markkula; her late husband, Lyman Griffith; and by her son, Craig Griffith. Irene was born on May 8, 1941 in Outlook SK. She grew up on a farm at Rock Point and attended school at Macrorie.  Irene moved to Dunblaine, where she met her first husband, Lyman Griffith. They were married on November 17, 1962. They started a family with two girls, Lynn and Sheila, before moving to Bowsman, MB. Not long after their son, Leon, was born. They lived there until Lyman passed away. Irene and Leon then moved to Dinsmore in 1984, and then moved to Swift Current in 1989. Irene settled in Swift Current and that is where she met her second husband, Richard Parr. They were married on March 26, 2005.  Irene loved to curl and watch curling, crochet, fish, cook, garden, play cards and spend time with her family and friends. Irene had a kind heart, and would help anyone out anytime. Irene touched the lives of many, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Irene Parr of Swift Current will take place on Wednesday, June 1st at 2:00 p.m., from the Salvation Army Church (located at 780 1st Ave NW, Swift Current) with Major Elizabeth Grad officiating.

In Honor of Irene Parr, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.
