July 10, 2016

James "Goldie" Jamieson, age 98, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri, SK. Goldie was born May 1, 1918 (SW 18-20-18 West of 3rd) six miles north of Cabri to George & Alice Jamieson, on his Uncle Bob’s farm. Goldie’s family came from Scotland in 1833. His parents made their home in Cabri, SK in 1917. He spent his time on the family homestead, ranching and farming until the dawn of WWII. At the age of 23, Goldie enlisted on July 2, 1942 with the Royal Canadian Air Force (Regimental number R-149702). He was stationed in Manchester, England where he served alongside members of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) as an Air Force mechanic until his honorable discharge as a Corporal from the RCAF on September 26, 1945. Goldie moved back to Cabri, SK where he married his sweetheart, Clara Johana Knutson, on May 1, 1948. Together they ranched, farmed and raised their two sons, Blaine and Arlyn. The love of horses, ranching, farming, rodeos, and being outdoors ran deep in his blood. Two weeks before Goldie’s passing, he attended his final rodeo at Lancer, SK. He was most proud of serving his country, his family, and his friends. Goldie leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons, Blaine (Gayle) Jamieson and Arlyn (Lennette) Jamieson; his six grandchildren, Jason (Tammy) Jamieson, Dean Jamieson, Janelle (Ben) Todd, Jeff (Kristi) Jamieson, Nicole (Jason) Jackson and Sheri (Derek) Tremere; and his seventeen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Clara Jamieson, March 13, 2004; his parents; his brother; and by his four sisters.
