Jean Schwedelsky Obituary

 

Jean Schwedelsky, age 79, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the General Hospital in Regina, SK. Jean Agnes Schwedelsky was born on October 14, 1938 in Gravelbourg, SK, the second child of Frank & Esther (Bodie) Hogg. Jean lived in Mortlach, SK and Caron, SK for her public school years, finishing Grade 12 in Kimberley, BC.  She was adventurous, working various jobs from British Columbia to Ontario, finally settling back in Saskatchewan. She married Don Schwedelsky on November 16, 1964. Jean held many different jobs throughout her life including owning the News & Candy Corner in Taber, AB. She took a secretarial course and eventually worked for the RCMP, becoming the first female fingerprint analyst in Canada. 

After Jean retired, she opened “Jeannie’s Gift and Craft” in the Crowsnest Pass, BC which she operated until her health failed. At that time Jean & Don relocated to Cadillac, SK to be closer to family. Jean is survived by her sister, Sandra (Ken) Dunlop; her step-children, Barry (Karalee) Schwedelsky, Sherry (Jim) Rissling, and Darlene (Mike) Askew and their families; her nieces, Kendra (Henry) Klassen, and Kim Hogg; her nephew, Arlen (Sarah) Hogg; her great-nephews, Justin (Courtney) Loran, Michael Cloutier,  Jayden Hogg, Elliot Hogg, and Joel Hogg; her great-nieces,  Jane Hogg and Kate Hogg; and by her special great-great-nephew, Theodore Loran. She was predeceased by her husband, Don Schwedelsky; her father, Frank Hogg; her mother, Esther (Bodie) Hogg; her brothers, Russell Hogg and Larry Hogg; and by her great-nephew, Travis Cloutier.

The Memorial Tea for Jean Schwedelsky was held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the East Side Church of God, Swift Current, SK. In memory of Jean Schwedelsky, donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (1738 Quebec Avenue Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9) would be appreciated by the family.
