John Pound

On Sunday, April 9, 2017 John Pound, age 83, passed away at The Meadows, Swift Current, SK. John Edward Pound was born March 3, 1934 at The Military Families Hospital, Kitchener Barracks, Brompton, Kent, England; the second child of Leonard & Winnifred Pound. On March 3, 1952 — John’s 18th birthday — John embarked on the S.S. Homeland at the Port of Southampton, Hampshire, England bound for New York, USA via Halifax, Canada. John’s emigration to Canada was sponsored by his uncle, Alfred John “Jack” Pound. John is survived by his wife, Janette Pound; his brother, Peter (Laura) Pound; his nieces, Leanne (Kent) Rosser, Jill (Joe) Nicol, and Wendy (David) Lennard; his nephews, James (Anna) Pound and Graham (Judith) Ballard; his cousins, Dennis Pevie, Geoffrey Pound, Alf Pound, David Pound, John Pound, Marilyn Goodfellow, Joyce Robins, Barbara Newman, Jackie Tombs, Marjorie Ramsay, and Michael Bills. John was predeceased by his parents, Leonard & Winnifred Pound; and by his sister and her husband, Audrey (Eric) Ballard. At John’s request, no Funeral Service will be held. In memory of John Pound, donations made to the SPCA would be appreciated by the family. Janette and Glenna would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Meadows — House 12, for their loving care and compassion shown to  John, Janette and Glenna during his stay and for always having the coffee on.
