John Regier

John Leslie Regier, age 76, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016, at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK and entered into the waiting arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior. John was born on February 29, 1940, at the Swift Current Union Hospital, Swift Current, SK to David J. & Aganatha Regier. He grew up eight miles south of Swift Current, and farmed with his dad and brothers until the late 1980’s. Although John’s love was farming, he also worked as a carpenter, salesperson, businessman and Pastor. Another one of John’s passions was to support missions and see the Gospel spread around the world. He served as the Music Director and Dean of Men at Millar College of the Bible for many years. Later, John & Dorothy opened Dr. Sew and Sew where they sold and serviced sewing machines until they retired eight years ago. John married his sweet heart, Dorothy Austring, on October 31, 1964. Early in his life, John received Jesus Christ as his Savior and this decision guided the rest of his life in every aspect. John loved music, and sang in many choirs, men’s groups, quartets and performed many solos including singing with Exodus, a group of his closest friends. John spent many years visiting the ill, both in hospital and at the care centers. John took on a formal role with the Trailview Alliance Church as their Pastor of Seniors’ and Visitation. He continued this role for many years after his retirement from his official pastoral role. John’s love and commitment to his family was a priority. He loved his children and grandchildren, always prayed for them and loved spending time with them. The last couple of years saw John struggle with health issues. John often expressed a desire to go “home” to Heaven. He knew that his ultimate eternal home was with his Savior, Jesus Christ. His suffering is over and now he is at peace and with Jesus. John was predeceased by his parents, David J. & Aganatha Regier; his sisters, Edna, Esther and Leona; his brothers, Edward and Calvin; and by a sister-in-law, Helen Regier. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 52 years, Dorothy; his sons, Kevin (Rhonda), Trent (Cheryl), Trevor (Angela); his grandchildren, Jordan, Kyra, Kaden, Kylie (Branden) and Amy; his brothers, Ernest and Karan (Judith); his sisters-in-law, Marion Regier and Pearl Regier; and by numerous nephews and nieces. 

The Funeral Service for Mr. John Regier of Swift Current took place on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 3:30 pm at the Trailview Alliance Church in Swift Current with Pastor Mike Smart officiating.

A Private Family Interment Service was held at the Nordland Cemetery in the Stewart Valley District.
