Welcome to the memorial page for

Joyce Carleton

April 15, 2017

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Carleton, age 88, in the morning hours of April 15, 2017 at Cabri, SK. Susan “Joyce” Elaine Carleton was born April 19, 1928 to John & Lizzy Haney in Cabri, SK. She married Wallace “Wally” Garnet Carleton on December 31, 1946 at the Cabri United Church. In 1950, Wally & Joyce bought his grandfather’s land in 1950 where they farmed with his brother, Doug. They were blessed with two boys, Terrance Wallace and Ian Garnet. In 1959, they added two daughters — Marilyn, who was five, and Sharon, who was four. Music was a large part of their lives. While the kids were growing up, Wally & Joyce were both on the church board. They enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, Arizona where they participated in orchestra work. Joyce served for decades as a pillar in the rich musical community of Cabri in various capacities. She served as the United Church choir director, script writer, dancer and dancing coach, set designer, piano teacher as well as the many other duties required for the production of musical and dramatic performances. Her influence persists and she will be sorely missed. She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Carleton; her parents, John & Lizzie; two children in infancy, Joy and Robert; as well as five siblings. She is survived by her children, Terry (Alice) Carleton, Ian (Wendy) Carleton, Sharon (Ron Realini) Carleton, and Marilyn (Jim Edicott) Carleton; her grandchildren, Sherry (Bruce) Royer, Renee (Tom) Golem, Devin (Megan) Carleton, Heather (Dave) St. Arnault, Ryley (Kaila) Carleton, Marlana Realini, and Bobby Endicott; her great-grandchildren, Kaden and Ethan Royer, William and Jonathan Golem, Madeline, Gracie, and Jillian Carleton, Harlow Carleton, and Peyton St. Arnault; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service for Joyce Carleton was held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Cabri United Church, Cabri, SK with Rev. Elaine Little officiating. “All is Bright and Beautiful” and “Guide Me, Oh Thou Great Jehovah” were sung by the congregation, with Jennifer Laluk serving as pianist. A poem was given by Sharon Realini and Marilyn Edicott. The ushers in the church were Bruce Carleton and Doug Weedon. The Interment Service was held from the Cabri Community Cemetery, Cabri, SK with Devin Carleton, Ryley Carleton, Lee Carleton, David Korven, John Kennedy, and Grant Kennedy serving as Pallbearers. In memory of Joyce Carleton, donations made to the Cabri Healthcare Centre Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family.
