Dear Joyce Carleton family,
Carol and I send our condolences to all of you on the death of your Mom.
In celebration of Joyce's life, I offer the following. My earliest memories are of shared Christmases, and your mom and dad's garden at the farm as they always had the earliest radishes and onions. I'm sure they probably had the earliest of everything, but those first radishes and onions are what I remember best. Summers at the lake, that hill up to your cottage was so steep! Church, the choir which your mom directed forever and all the great music the choir produced. Golfing on the Cabri golf course when we adults, and of course your mom and dad's hospitality over the years as our family returned to Cabri to visit. Carol and I especially appreciated it when your mom came out to the coast to visit us at our home in Port Alberni.
For us, your Mom was always a warm and loving aunt. She always greeted us with a wonderful smile and a twinkle in her eye. She never seemed to let her diabetes rule her life, she had energy and she was certainly an amazing leader in her community, always contributing to the different special events and occasions.
The generation that preceded us, although they didn't have the severe challenges that he first generation of Cabri-its had, they had their own, and they did very well in providing an amazing community where we were allowed to grow up.
