Welcome to the memorial page for

Kathleen Deobald

October 15, 2016

Kathleen May (Drysdale) Deobald, age 79, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at The Meadows – Clover House, Swift Current, SK. Kathleen was born on June 15, 1937 in Chaplin, SK, to Lawrence & Martha May Drysdale – the first in a family of four. Kathleen completed her Grade 12 at the Chaplin High School. She had a brief teaching career at Mount Rumble, which was near Chaplin. Kathleen married Roy Deobald on September 23, 1958 in Chaplin, SK. She worked at Zellers in Moose Jaw from 1958 – 1961. Kathleen & Roy lived in Chaplin from 1967 – 1969, and in Blumenhof until 1974, when they moved to Central Butte where she worked at the hospital. In 1979 they relocated to Shaunavon where Kathleen worked at the Shaunavon Hospital for 13 years until they retired to Swift Current in 1994. Kathleen loved to play cards, do puzzles and coffee row – which was a hi-light to her, six days of the week. They also spent many summers camping at Cypress Hills. It was a high priority for Kathleen to attend church every Sunday and also to have lunch with their friends. Kathleen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Roy; her children, Kevin Deobald (Bernie), Michele Wall (Tom),  Gary Deobald (Trina); her grandchildren, Devon Deobald (Christina), Dana Thiessen (Logan), Shaun and Allison Wall, Brady and Brett Deobald; her great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Nora Thiessen; her brother, Lawrence Drysdale (Muriel); her sisters, Janet Davison (Gerald), Irene Smith (Ron); her brothers-in-law, Johnny Deobald (Marlene), Gordon Gleim (Elsie); her sisters-in-law, Barbara Maygard, Star Deobald; and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence & Martha May Drysdale; her mother & father-in-law, Phillip & Marie Deobald; brothers- in-law, Harvey Deobald, Ralph Deobald; sister-in-law, Eleanor Gleim; granddaughter, Sara Wall; and by nephews, Trevor Gleim, Curtis Gleim and Jamie Deobald. The family would like to thank all the medical staff involved in her care. Kathleen will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

The Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00 am from the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Greg Keil officiating. The organist for the service was Arlie Neufeld. The eulogy was presented by Bernie Deobald with special music provided by Verlan & Shirley Deobald.
