Welcome to the memorial page for

Kathy Elias

August 6, 2016

Katherine “Kathy” Elias (nee Funk), age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK with her family by her side. Kathy was born on July 10, 1936 in Herbert, SK to Johann & Katharina (nee Wiebe) Funk, where she grew up with her siblings. On October 1, 1955 Kathy married Elmer Elias. They were blessed with two boys — Wesley and Patrick. She worked at the Palliser Care Centre a few years before working at Swift Litho. They had a family business, Elias Plumbing, where Kathy worked for 27 years as a secretary. While working at Elias Plumbing, she also started Country Fried Chicken with her son Pat, and retired in 2010. Kathy’s relationship with her Saviour was the most important part of her life, she wanted everyone to know about the love of Jesus Christ and His assurance of Eternal Life upon confession of faith. Kathy was a member of the Community Baptist Church since 1995, where she served on the church board and was involved in the ladies’ ministries. Her favourite scripture was John 3:16, she loved to study the Bible. The Word of God inspired her and its influence can be seen throughout her poetry and drawings. Whether reading, crocheting, writing poetry, sketching, or doing any kind of craft, Kathy’s favourite place was her home and the people who were in it. Many family get-togethers, Christmas and Easter holidays, birthdays, and family reunions were celebrated with loved ones. Kathy is now in the presence of her Saviour and leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband for 61 years, Elmer Elias; her sons, Wesley (Charlotte) Elias, and Patrick (Angela) Elias; her grandchildren, Gregg, Holly, Christina, Dustin and Danielle; her great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Ty, Chase, Stella, Emily and Cody; her brother, Abe (Olga) Funk; her sister, Anne Gerbrandt; and by her nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a son and daughter, Timothy and Judy, in infancy; her parents, Johann & Katharina Funk; her brothers, John Funk, Henry Funk, Corny Funk and Jake Funk; her sister, Margaret Funk; and by her brother-in-law, Archie Gerbrandt.

The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm from the Community Baptist Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Ricky Williams officiating. The pianist for the service was Loreen Wiebe. “Since Jesus Came Into My Heart”, “What a Day that Will Be”, “He the Pearly Gates Will Open” and “When We All get to Heaven” were sung by the congregation.
