Laura Snyder

Laura Snyder, age 96, of Medicine Hat, AB, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Laura was born in Benton, AB on April 4, 1920, and committed her life to serving the Lord at the age of 13 — and was a prayer warrior to the end. After completing grade 11, Laura was employed as a nanny, housemaid, retail clerk, farm wife, and custodian. After retirement, she enjoyed travelling to Hawaii (twice), Canada and United States East Coast, Disneyland, Yellowstone, and the Holy Land. Laura enjoyed sewing (quilting), ceramics, reading, visiting with friends, and gardening. She was very active in her church, serving wherever there was a need. She enjoyed making quilts and other projects with the Carstairs Women’s Missionary Society. She enjoyed visiting with her family, her grandkids and great-grandkids were a delight. Laura looked forward to the time she would be with Jesus and is now in His presence. Laura is survived by her two sons, Mel (Carolynn) Snyder, Medicine Hat, AB, Kevin (Joyce) Snyder, Swift Current, SK; her four grandchildren, Kent (Laura) Snyder, Medicine Hat, AB, Jeff (Jodi) Snyder, Edmonton, AB, Janessa (Scott) Bockrandt, Winnipeg, MB, Jordan (Kirstyn) Snyder, Winnipeg, MB; her five great-grandchildren; her brother, Stan (Shirley) Bessey; her sister, Ruth Wilkins; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Alton Snyder; her parents, Joseph & Frances Bessey; and by her siblings, Lloyd Bessey, Orville Bessey, Dalton Bessey, Cliff Bessey, and Dorothy Guzella.

The Funeral Service was held at the Carstairs Church of God, Carstairs, AB, on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating. A private Internment Service for family and close friends took place at 1:00 pm at the Didsbury Cemetery, Didsbury, AB. In memory of Laura Snyder, donations to Gideons International of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
