Lillian McLachlan

December 24, 2014
Lillian McLachlan, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at the Swift Current Care Centre, Swift Current, SK. Lillian was born on August 6, 1930, in Herbert, SK, to John & Annie Jeffrey. She married Don McLachlan on September 17, 1949. They settled on the farm south of Herbert where they worked together until 1989, when they moved to Swift Current. Because of failing health, she was admitted to the Pioneer Lodge and then to the Swift Current Care Centre, where she received excellent care for the last few years. Family was important to Lillian and she was always willing to help out in any way she could. She always grew a large garden to share with anyone who needed it, and in the winter she knitted to make sure all the children had sweaters and mittens. Lillian was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and what she was learning from the Bible she shared with others. Lillian is survived by her husband of 65 years, Don McLachlan; their 4 children, Wayne (Linda) of Calgary, AB, Wes, Grant (Dianne), and Bev (James) Maxwell, all of Swift Current, SK; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Lix and Joyce Belanger, both of Regina, SK; and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, John & Annie Jeffrey; two sisters, Stella Kroeker and Rita Redpath (Dahl); and by a brother, Wylie Jeffrey.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, January 17, 2015, from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Swift Current, SK with Bill Burgess officiating. In memory of Lillian McLachlan, donations to the Pioneer Lodge, Swift Current Care Centre Auxiliary or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
