Nettie Klassen

The Family of Nettie Klassen of Herbert wish to announce her passing on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the age of 93 years.

A Private Family Funeral Service will be held.

Nettie Klassen (nee Dyck) passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Herbert & District Integrated Facility, Herbert, SK at the age of 93. Nettie was born December 25, 1922 to Cornelius & Agnes Dyck in Russia. The family moved to Canada when Nettie was four under the sponsorship of the Canadian Mennonite Board, settling in Saskatchewan. Nettie married Jacob L. Klassen in 1945 and they began their married life in the Rosefarm, SK area. They moved to Herbert in 1952, where they lived and raised their family. Nettie worked for many years in the kitchen and laundry at the Herbert Union Hospital, retiring in 1988. Nettie enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking and baking. Her home cooked meals and desserts will be missed by family and friends. Nettie is survived by her children, Lois Fabians, Donna Jacobs, Marg (Al) Johnston, Bob (Carol) Klassen, and Garth (Lorie) Klassen; her nine grandchildren; her fifteen great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; and by her brother, Ben (Hilda) Dyck. She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob L. Klassen; and by her parents, Cornelius & Agnes Dyck. The family greatly appreciates the care given by the Herbert Nursing Home staff and Dr. Kassett.
