Orabeth Johnston

Orabeth Johnston, age 59, passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 13, 2022 in the presence of family and loved ones at Red Deer Hospice, Red Deer, AB.

Orabeth Lucille Johnston was born October 8, 1962 in Regina, SK. Chosen in love, she began life with her forever parents, Eldon & Lucille Herbel in December of that same year. 

Orabeth lived most of her life in Swift Current, SK and the surrounding area, only moving to Sylvan Lake, AB after both her sons and more importantly, her grandson, had moved there. 

Orabeth is lovingly remembered by her sons, Andy Johnston (and his father Brian) and Terry (Danielle) Johnston (both of Sylvan Lake, AB); her grandson, Xavier; her mother, Lucille Herbel (Swift Current, SK); her sisters, Ellie (Lance) Dyck (Swift Current, SK) and Nancy Young (Calgary, AB); her brother, Todd Hendrickson (Calgary, AB); her nieces and nephews; and by friends too numerous to name.

Orabeth was predeceased by her father, Eldon Herbel, in October 2007, and was laid to rest beside him

The Graveside Service for Orabeth Johnston took place on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 2:00 pm from Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with Orabeth's best friend, Pamela Berry, serving as MC. The processional was "Amazing Grace," by Andy Leftwich. Darren Dyck, Orabeth's nephew, served as the Urnbearer. The eulogy was given by Pamela Berry. Ellie Dyck, Orabeth's sister, read Psalm 23 and gave a tribute. The postlude music, "Dancing in the Sky," by Dani and Lizzy, was chosen by Orabeth herself.
