Ray Rempel

Ray Rempel, age 79, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK. Ray leaves to mourn, his wife, Margaret Rempel; his children, Lyle Rempel and Lorie (Garnet) Dyck; his grandchildren, Natasha (Derek) Martens and Shantel Dyck; and by his great-grandchildren, June, Susie, and Charlie Martens. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Isbrandt Rempel and Anne Klassen; and by his brothers, Victor Rempel and Lloyd Rempel.

Ray was born October 14, 1938 in Beaver Flat, SK — the third child to Isbrandt & Anne Rempel. He was raised on the farm in Beaver Flat, where he helped his family until he moved into Swift Current to work at Cy’s Service. Throughout his professional career he worked at autobody shops, as a farm hand for Jackson Running, and assembling machinery at implement dealerships, before his health forced him to retire. He was then promoted to babysitting his granddaughters, also making toys and furniture.

The Funeral Service for Ray Rempel was held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Church of the Open Bible, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. “How Great Thou Art” and “I’ll Fly Away” were sung by the congregation under the leadership of Ken, Melanie, and Yvetter Friesen. The Obituary and Reflections of Life were given by Lorie Dyck, Natasha Martens, and Shantel Dyck. The ushers in the church were Burt Rempel and Judy Hagborg. The Private Family Interment Service was held prior to the Funeral Service from Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with Lyle Rempel, Garnet & Lorie Dyck, Derek & Natasha Martens, and Shantel Dyck serving as Pallbearers. In memory of Ray Rempel, donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
