Roy Dowdell

Roy Dowdell (formerly of Vanguard, SK), age 82, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK.  Roy Harold Dowdell was born to Lloyd & Johanna Dowdell on March 9, 1934 in the Vanguard area. He grew up in the area with his siblings, Mervyn and Margaret, where he also farmed most of his life.  He retired in 1996 and lived a short while in Vanguard, before moving to Swift Current in 2002.  Roy was a solitary man who was always there to help out his nieces and nephews.  He is survived by his nephews, Brian Bleau, David Bleau, Michael Bleau, and Darryl Bleau; his nieces, Karen (Bleau) Lisoway and Kari-Jo (Dowdell) Kinsman; his great-nieces and nephews; and by his friends.  He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd & Johanna Dowdell; his brother, Mervyn Dowdell; and by his sister, Margaret Bleau.

The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Swift Current Funeral Home Chapel, Swift Current, SK, with Rev. Linda Hall officiating. A tribute was given by Karen Lisoway. “Softy and Tenderly,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “Take My Hand Precious Lord” were played for the congregation. The Interment Service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current with Michael Bleau, David Bleau, Karen Lisoway, Darryl Bleau, Brian Bleau, and Lucy Bleau serving as Pallbearers.
