Welcome to the memorial page for

Ruth Moen

November 18, 2016

On Friday, November 18, 2016 Ruth Moen (formerly of the Stewart Valley Area) passed away at her home in Kamloops, BC at the age of 68. Ruth Marjorie Moen was born April 3, 1948 to Julius & Ruth Moen in Swift Current, SK. Ruth spent her childhood in Beaver Flat and Stewart Valley, SK. She completed high school at the Lutheran Collegiate Bible Institute in Outlook, SK. She then received her Licensed Practical Nursing diploma at SIAST in Saskatoon, SK. In 1975, she moved to Kamloops, BC to work as a nurse at the Royal Inland Hospital. After retiring from nursing, she became the church secretary at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Kamloops. Ruth was a friend to all — her family, her colleagues, her neighbors, her church and her friends from yesteryears. She reached beyond her local community and volunteered her time to raise funds for the Kamloops Medical-Surgical team that travelled to Guatemala. As a member of Medicos-En-Accion, she travelled to Guatemala with the team to work with them. Ruth is survived by her siblings, Ellen (Murray) Palmer, Agnes (Lester) Millang, Harold (Renetta) Moen, and Edith (Wallace) Kononoff; her sisters-in-law, Gladys Moen and Gene Moen; her nineteen much-loved nieces and nephews; and by many dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Julius & Ruth Moen; and by her siblings and in-laws, Orville Moen, James Moen, Bennie Moen, Mabel (Ralph) Rindahl, Clarine (Johnnie) Furseth, Raymond Moen, Gertie (Oscar) Johnson, and Muriel (Clinton) Pederson. Ruth will be remembered for her love for family, friends, and all people, her lively sense of humour, and for her gratitude to God for his goodness.

The Funeral Service for Ruth Moen of Kamloops and formerly of Swift Current was held on Monday, November 28th at 1:00 p.m., from the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Swift Current with Rev. Linda Hall officiating.

The Interment Service for Ruth Moen will took place at the Nordland Cemetery in the Stewart Valley District.
