Sharon Waite

Sharon Faye Waite (nee Polishuk), age 78, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 after a brief illness at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK.

Sharon was predeceased by her husband, Allan Waite; and by her parents, Leeward & Frances Polishuk. 

Sharon is survived by her brother, Wayne (Lorraine) Polishuk; her sister, Audrey Henderson; her special uncle and aunt, Bob & Elaine Clark; and by her nephews, nieces, and their families, Zane (Nicole) Polishuk (their children, Zach and Alexandra), Dale (Melanie) Polishuk (their children, Miranda and Bryson), Lindsey (Kory) Owen (their daughter, Tessa), Siobhan Henderson, Trevor (Corie Dey) Waite, and Angela Waite.

Sharon was born on April 18, 1944 in Viceroy, SK and grew up in Minburn, AB. She started her career as a beautician, receiving her certificate in 1969 and opening up her own shop in Whitecourt, AB. Allan & Sharon married on July 18, 1983 and she moved to Allan’s farm near Pennant, SK where they lived for their 31 year marriage.

Sharon continued offering her styling skills from the farm, ensuring all the family, friends, and neighbours were sporting new haircuts. She was also able to pursue her other artistic talents, art and music, in the community. She acted, sang, and directed a number of local theatre productions in Hazlet and Cabri. She was also a skilled pianist and sang in the choir.

She was widely known throughout the area for her folk art paintings and, with help of Allan’s carpentry skills, expanded into furniture and home décor as well. Sharon was active in the craft markets and art shows throughout the province. Sharon shared her knowledge and talents as an instructor for several years and continued to attend conferences to expand her skills. She enjoyed encouraging other artists.

Sharon moved from the farm to Swift Current after Allan’s passing and was living at the Willow Creek Manor for the last couple of years. She spoke highly of the staff there and had settled into life in the retirement home.  

At Sharon’s request, there will be no formal funeral service and her final resting place will be in Minburn, AB. In memory of Sharon Waite and for those wishing, donations made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
