Susan Solberg

The family of Susan Brenda Solberg of Herbert, Saskatchewan, is saddened to announce her passing on July 1, 2017. Susan was born March 8, 1948. Susan became the beloved daughter of Tillie and Berent Solberg in the fall of 1953. Susan is survived by her brother Terrance Solberg (Marion). She leaves to mourn her passing her nephew Jarret Solberg (Cheryl), and his daughters Megan, Jamie (Karl), and Rachel of Craven; her niece Theresa, along with her children, Raven, Liam, Cailin, and Shannon of Toronto, as well as numerous members of her extended family. Susan is predeceased by her parents, Berent and Tillie; aunt Olga Solberg; uncle Oscar (Thelma) Solberg; uncle Chris (Edna) Solberg; aunt Ragna (Jack) Ducharme; uncle Norman (Marge) Nelson; aunt Nora (Reinhardt) Muri; and aunt Agnes (Oliver) Moe. Susan loved farm life because she could spend so much time around the animals – she especially had a fondness for cats and dogs. She learned to ride horseback while growing up on the farm. She also loved to read and write, spending many hours using her beautiful handwriting to write cards and letters to loved ones. She was always praying for her family, whom she loved very dearly, especially her great nieces and nephews. She was kind and forgiving, and none of her family or friends could do any wrong in Susan’s eyes. Susan had many hobbies and interests, but she particularly loved crafts and colouring, crocheting, watching her favourite movies, and trying to sneak sugary foods into her diet. Susan spent most of her life in Herbert, where she spent many Sundays teaching Sunday school and working as an assistant in the Kindergarten class.  She lived in various places around Herbert throughout her life, and she spent the last few years of her life in the Manor and the Herbert Nursing Home, where she made many friends. Susan made friends readily everywhere she went, and once you belonged to Susan, you belonged to her for life. Susan's unconditional love and friendship will be missed immensely by all who knew her. 

The Funeral Service for Brenda Solberg was held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm from St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herbert, SK with Rev. Linda Hall officiating. “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” were sung by the congregation, with Diane Peters serving as musician. Special music was brought by Diane Peters, Linda Philips, and Joyce Weare, who sang “Jesus, Lover of My Soul.” Tributes were given by Sharon Nelson and Lester Solberg. Psalm 23 was read by Raven Jeske, Psalm 91:1-7 was read by Rachel Solberg. The ushers in the church were Betty Cornelson and Lena Stenstrom. The Private Interment Service preceded the Funeral Service from the Highland Cemetery, Herbert, SK with Glen Solberg, Jarret Solberg, Jake Peters, Keith Weare, Shane Nelson, and Lester Solberg serving as Pallbearers. In memory of Susan Solberg, donations made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.
