Our deepest condolences to the entire family. My Mom had been Vern's Sunday School teacher and would often mention how honored she was that "Vern" was in her class. She appreciated his wonderful personality and always had a special place in her heart for him. May God always be your comfort today and as the years go by.

Jill, Christina and Alicia - we were shocked and saddened to hear of Vern's passing. We have such fond memories of our times together in Swift Current (the girls were so little then). Vern was a very fun, loving and kind friend and we will miss him dearly. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers as you navigate this next chapter in life.

My deepest condolences to Vern's family and friends. We know Vern from the business side of things and I have never met someone so genuine, kind and patient. He was always helpful and so very good at what he did for a living. My heart breaks for the family and friends of Vern. Often we would talk family and he was so proud of his family as it showed from all the pictures in his office. My thoughts and prayers to you all.

Although time and miles have separated us I remember the times spent with Vern yourself and the girls fondly.
Vern was an inspiration to me. He always had a kind word, a smile and time to listen.

I last saw Vern with Jill walking down a hall in the hospital. I didn't want to disturb you but I walked behind you both. A nurse came along and asked how he was doing and he said "good today". I was happy to hear that optimism. I am so sorry for your loss of him in your lives. 2017 was not supposed to have this in it for your family when you had so much to celebrate. I am reminded of a Dwight Moody quote where he said someday you will read in the paper that I have died, don't believe a word of it.. when that day comes it will be then that I will never be more alive. I am thankful for Vern's faith and the legacy he leaves to you but also that promise that he is alive in paradise today and in eternity you will never be parted again! May the Lord be close to you as you mourn and be blessed and strengthened by the love and prayers of your friends and family.

Vern and I grew up together, went to the same schools and same church and I always considered him a dear friend. We played a lot of hockey together and I always appreciated his competitive, but gentle spirit. He will be deeply missed.

Vern... a man of faith, integrity, substance and the kindest nature. He looked after so many so very well professionally but mostly I will miss him as a friend that cared, was interested in people and in the world around him.
