Welcome to the memorial page for

Alfred Moore

November 9, 2017

Alfred Moore, age 78, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK. Alfred Wayne Moore was born in Dinsmore, SK on July 5, 1939 to Joseph & Inga Moore. Alfred attended rural schools in the Dinsmore area, and completed his schooling at Queen Elizabeth School. Alfred married Judy Esther Erickson on November 1, 1963 and together they raised two sons — Wayne and Shane.

He farmed with his father, then decided to buy a semi and go into the trucking business as well. He drove for Atomic Transfer and continued farming. Later, Alfred formed JED Trucking, hauling mostly cattle and cattle feed. He became involved with the National Farmers Union and served as the Regional Coordinator for several years. When he left the NFU, he set up an organic grain business, which bought, cleaned, and sold organic grains, along with an organic bakery. This led Alfred back into the trucking business, which he continued for several years.

When the rural health districts were formed, Alfred was elected to the North Valley Health District. He served several years as the board chairman and as the SAHO chairman. Alfred was very active in his community, he especially loved coaching his kid’s hockey and baseball teams. He was on the King George Hall board and spent many hours working on the hall renovation. He also put in many days working on the upgrades to the Dinsmore Arena — helping to put in the artificial ice and renovate the facility. Alfred served as President of the Dinsmore Kinsmen Club in and put in a term as Deputy Governor in 1976 — the year that the idea for TeleMiracle came into being, and the first TeleMiracle was aired the following year. It is a little-known fact that Alfred was instrumental in getting approval for the Dinsmore Integrated Health Facility. In the year prior to that approval, Alfred went at least once a week to the office of the Minister of Health to lobby for that facility for Dinsmore.

Alfred dearly loved his family, both immediate and extended. He attended every family function he could, sometimes driving through snowstorms and extreme cold to get there. Alfred was predeceased by his infant grandson, Thomas Moore. Alfred is survived by his wife, Judy Moore; his sons, Wayne (Angela) Moore and Shane (Charmaine) Moore; his six grandchildren, Tyson Williamson, Taler Moore, Leah Williamson, Danielle Moore, Tyra Moore, Curtis Moore; and by his great-grandson, Thomas Williamson. Alfred will be missed by his family and many friends and relatives.

The Funeral Service for Alfred Moore was held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 1:00 pm from the Dinsmore Hall, Dinsmore, SK with Pastor Terry Sauder officiating. “Amazing Grace,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “He Hideth My Soul” were sung by the congregation under the leadership of Keith Kitchen, accompanied by Andrew & Katie Erickson. The Eulogy was given by Shane Moore. The ushers in the hall were Ed Jones and Dennis Atkinson. The Interment Service was held from the Dinsmore Cemetery, Dinsmore, SK with Jamie Thorpe, Robbie Thorpe, Kurt Jones, Kevin Jones, Rodney McConnell, and Troy Atkinson serving as Pallbearers. In memory of Alfred Moore, donations made to the Alzheimer Society and the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
