It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Heard, age 85, announce her passing on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK. Alice was predeceased by her first husband, Patrick Reynolds; her son, Neil Reynolds; her grandson, Kevin; her parents, Arthur & Maude White; and by her siblings, Bill, Jack, and Lillian. Alice leaves to mourn, her husband, Robert Heard; her children, Glen (Colleen) Reynolds, Darrell (Wendy) Reynolds, Brian (Laura) Reynolds, and Bruce (Diana) Reynolds; her grandchildren, Kelli (Shaun), Scott, Tammy (Jason), Chris (Fiona), Brad (Cortney), Sarah, Gavin, Justin, and Brianne; and by her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Talon, Taylor, Trista, Kadean, Logan, Ava, Shayla, Tayla, Emma, and Macie.
Alice Lucy Heard was born December 23, 1932 to Arthur & Maude White in the White Bear District, SK, where she grew up. She raised her four sons on a farm in the Cabri District, SK. Alice loved a good game of bridge and was an avid stamp and coin collector. She was a talented gardener and seamstress, she also enjoyed working with leather and crafting. Alice was famous for painting “her rocks” that lay in her garden for all to enjoy. She loved all animals, but was very fond of Skipper the cat. Alice left the farm in the late seventies and was a proud saleswoman for Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners. She would travel in her car all over the countryside from farm to farm sharing stories, having tea and selling vacuums. Alice married Robert “Bob” Heard on March 18, 1987 in Medicine Hat, AB. Bob & Alice shared many years on the farm in the Hazlet, SK area, and later settled in Swift Current. They enjoyed many wonderful years at the cabin on Clearwater Lake, SK. Alice could always be found visiting the children and doing crafts. Alice’s greatest love was her “Spirit for Life” and her love of family.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Palliser and the Meadows for the wonderful care that Alice received during her stay and up to her passing. As per Alice’s request, there will be no formal Funeral Service. A Private Family Memorial Service for Alice Heard will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Cabri, SK. In memory of Alice Heard, donations made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
