Allan Reimer, age 80, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Cypress Regional Hospital. Allan James Reimer was born October 5, 1938 in Swift Current — one of fifteen children born to Dave and Hilda (Marsch) Reimer.
Allan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice (Ziegler); his children, Brad (Kennet) Reimer, of Swift Current, SK and Kim (Jason) Fenske, of Medicine Hat, AB; his five brothers; Victor, Harold, Murray, and Garth (Avril) Reimer, all of Swift Current, SK and Bruce (Chalong) Reimer of Thailand; his seven sisters, Eleanor (Garfield) Oakman, of Winnipeg, MB, Louise (Delnor) Johnsgaard, of Swift Current, SK, Delma Yarrow, of Brooks, AB, Norma (Adam) Schell, Audrey Laughlin, and Anne Reimer, all of Medicine Hat, AB, and Donna (Murray) Hjermenrude, of St. Anne, MB; his sister-in-law, Sandra Hinks, of Swift Current, SK; Alice’s family, Phyllis (Don) Hanchar, of Maple Creek, SK, Karen,(Dewain) Breault, of Moose Jaw, SK, Shirley (Gary) Robinson, of Redcliff, AB, and Jack (Cindy) Ziegler, of Ravenscrag, SK; and by many nieces and nephews. Allan was predeceased by his parents, Dave and Hilda; his brothers, Melvin and Ronald Reimer; his sisters-in-law, Jeanette Reimer, Shirley Anderson, Henriette Reimer, and Joyce Huery; and by his brothers-in-law, Joe Yarrow and Fred Huery.
On October 5, 1962 Allan married Alice Ziegler in Maple Creek, SK. They lived in both Moose Jaw and Mortlach, SK before moving to the Swift Current area in 1993. He ran heavy equipment for PFRA for 33 years and started farming in 1979. When he retired from the PFRA in 1993 he was able to fulfill his dream of farming full time. Allan had a very strong work ethic. Family was very important to him and Allan rarely missed a family gathering. Allan’s family would like to give a special thank you to Nicole Vance and the staff of the Cypress Regional Hospital for the care he received.
The Memorial Service for Allan Reimer was held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm from Eagles Hall, Swift Current, SK with Dominick Martens as MC. The eulogy was given by Doug Ferguson, a friend of Allan, followed by a photo tribute. There was a time for family and friends to share memories of Allan. Special music was brought by Casey Ziegler, Allan’s nephew. The Private Interment Service was held prior to the Memorial Service from Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. In memory of Allan Reimer, donations made to the Swift Current SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
