Angela Boorah

August 13, 2017

Angela Boorah (nee Gillis), age 37, of Swift Current passed away on August 13, 2017 at the Cypress Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Angela Kim (Gillis) Boorah was born on September 10, 1979 to Steve & Sue Gillis in Swift Current and grew up in Ponteix, SK. Angela was a beloved teacher to many over her twelve-year teaching career in the community. She began her teaching career at Neville School and later moved to Central School, where she taught until 2014. On December 23, 2005, Angela married Stephen Boorah. They welcomed their daughter, Cassidy, in 2010 and their son, Weston, in 2014. Becoming a mother was one of her greatest accomplishments, and her children were her top priority. She spent countless hours coming up with creative activities for them to do, and was dedicated to leading them in the ways of the Lord. Angela was a woman of strong faith and inspired others by her example. At a young age, she recognized her calling to pursue God's work through working with children. When she was twelve years old, her dream to do missionary work was birthed. It was her dream to work with orphans around the world and share the love of Christ with them. This sparked her passion to become a teacher and impact children everywhere. She had the opportunity to go to Rwanda and Kenya to support children in the orphanages. In her words, it was one of the most fulfilling and gratifying times of her life, followed shortly by becoming a mother. Angela brought out the best in everyone around her, everyone who knew her or spent time with her had a story to share about how she impacted their life. Angela was active in her church community, and often organized events and created opportunities for people to connect. Church was more than a place to go, it was a family. In the last two years while she was battling cancer, Angela grew stronger in her faith and inspired others to do the same. Angela was humbled to know that so many people spent countless hours praying for her and supporting her family with meals, visits, play dates, and words of encouragement. She was always looking for ways to show her gratitude for all that has been done, there are no words to express how these acts of kindness ministered to her and her family.

The Funeral Service for Angela Boorah was held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm from East Side Church of God, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Lorne Davis officiating.
