Annie Klassen, age 84, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Meadows Care Centre, Swift Current, SK. Annie was born October 19, 1933 in Chortitz, SK to Peter & Anna (Fehr) Giesbrecht.
She married her sweetheart, Peter Klassen, on June 17, 1951. Together, they raised ten children and farmed a small mixed farm in Schoenfeld, SK. In 1972, Peter & Annie set up an autobody shop, Community Auto Repair Ltd., on the homestead. They owned and operated the business and the mixed farm until 1983, after which she worked at the Swift Current Care Centre for eight years.
Peter & Annie enjoyed their vacations — especially a trip to Bolivia, South America to visit relatives — and a vacation to Hawaii. Annie enjoyed doing crafts and puzzles in her spare time and was an exceptional cook and baker. Her grandchildren were always treated with her popular red sugar cream cookies.
Annie was baptized as an adult upon confession of her faith in Jesus Christ. It was important to Annie that she share her faith with her family with the hope they would all receive Salvation in Christ and reunite again in Heaven. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was especially proud to have raised a family of ten children.
Annie was predeceased by her husband, Peter Klassen; her grandson; Travis Cloutier; her parents, Peter & Anna Giesbrecht; her parents-in-law, Gerhard & Katherina Klassen; her siblings, Pete Giesbrecht, Abe Giesbrecht, Dave Giesbrecht, Jake Giesbrecht, Helena Giesbrecht, Aganetha Giesbrecht, and Maria Giesbrecht; and by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Kay Giesbrecht, Gloria Giesbrecht, George Klassen, and Bill Hammel.
Annie is survived by her children, John (Dianna) Klassen, Peter (Sandi) Klassen, Mary (Lyle) Eirich, Ron (Theresa) Klassen, Norma Klassen, Ruth (Doug) Wong, Betty (Dave) Fehr, Henry (Kendra) Klassen, Trudy Klassen, and Terah Looman; her twenty-five grandchildren; her several great-grandchildren; her several great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Ike (Betty) Giesbrecht and Agnes (George) Peters; and by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Marie Giesbrecht, Agnes (Jake) Fehr, Katherine (Dave) Giesbrecht, Jacob (Viola) Klassen, John (Susie) Klassen, Abe (Mary) Klassen, Helen (John) Friesen, Margaret (John) Neustaeter, and Evelyn Hammel.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Meadows and former Swift Current Care Centre for their compassionate care provided to mom over the past thirteen years.
